The Ford C-Max is also waiting for the changing of the guard. The Iosis X study, which can now be seen in Geneva, shows what that might look like.

As a study of a compact van, the Ford Iosis X celebrates its premiere at the Geneva Motor Show. The futuristically designed four-seater gives an outlook on the future design of the brand and shows the first design elements of the C-Max successor model expected for 2011.

New brand face

The front with the large trapezoidal air inlet and the slotted headlights bears features of the new brand face, which can also be found on the small car Fiesta, for example. A flat windshield rises behind the short bonnet, which merges into a large glass roof. The roof line slopes down towards the rear and gives the study a sporty appearance. The rear door is designed as a sliding door and slides backwards on an elaborate rail system; this meant that there was no need for a fixed B-pillar, which made access to the four individual seats in the interior easier.

Powerful economy engine

A 1.6-liter turbo gasoline engine with 132 kW / 180 PS provides the drive, which is the first engine from a family of economical engines to be launched in 2010. Due to the comparatively small displacement in connection with turbo-charging, the consumption should be around 20 percent below that of the current Ford engines in the same performance class. Combined with a dual clutch transmission, according to the manufacturer, only around 5.3 liters of super flow through the four cylinders over 100 kilometers. (mid)
