Mitsubishi is making its Outlander SUV more affordable. New in the range is a basic version with a 147 hp petrol engine. The price compared to the previous entry-level model has been reduced by 5000 euros.
The SUV Mitsubishi Outlander is now visually and technically refreshed. Four engines can be ordered for the five to seven-seater, covering a power range from 103 kW / 140 PS to 125 kW / 170 PS. The new one is a basic version with a 108 kW / 147 PS petrol engine and front-wheel drive, so that the entry-level price drops by 5,000 euros compared to the previous entry-level model to 21,990 euros. For this price, the customer also has to forego some extras such as head airbags.
Good overall impression
The new slimmed-down version makes a good overall impression. Agile driving behavior and clarity delight the driver. A torque of 199 Nm at 4,200 revolutions ensures sufficient power potential. If you put it on it when starting up, the driving forces will pull the front wheels, but a more deliberate accelerator will correct this immediately. Those who do not want to go off-road are well served with the pure front-wheel drive. The top speed is given as 190 km / h. The average fuel consumption should be eight liters of premium gasoline per 100 kilometers.
In addition, the well-known range of engines with a 2.4-liter gasoline engine with 125 kW / 170 PS and diesel units with 2.0 liters or 2.2 liters displacement at 103 kW / 140 PS and 115 kW / 156 PS remain on offer. The engines are all coupled with four-wheel drive; the rear-wheel drive part can be switched off at the push of a button to save fuel. A new addition to the range is an optional dual-clutch transmission for the 2.2-liter diesel engine; a manual six-speed gearbox is standard on all versions. The price list for the versions starts at 28,990 euros.
The overall model revision of the Outlander series is aimed at station wagons. Instead of the previous SUV trains, the front has a significantly more sedan character. The dynamic radiator - Mitsubishi calls it the "jetfighter grill" - is already familiar from the Lancer mid-range sedan and the Colt small car. There are also more chrome elements and LED indicators have been integrated into the exterior mirrors. In the interior, upholstered materials for door panels and dashboards as well as comfortable, long-distance seats in a fresher textile design are popular.
The list of options for the five- to seven-seater has also been added. Among other things, there are now bi-xenon headlights with cornering lights and a dual clutch transmission for the 2.2-liter diesel engine. As before, the 4.64 meter long Japanese scores with a large amount of space, a high level of approval and good driving comfort. (mid)
