Ford presents another convertible variant of the Focus. The retractable hardtop is new. There is a choice of two petrol engines and one diesel engine.

As the third German car manufacturer, after Opel and VW, Ford is now also offering a compact class convertible with a retractable hardtop. As the manufacturer from Cologne announced at the presentation in Siena, Italy, the coupé-convertible will complement the “Focus family” from mid-November and will be sold at prices starting at 22,975 euros.

Like its competitors Opel Astra and VW Eos, the Focus Cabrio developed with the Italian coachbuilder Pininfarina does not have a fabric soft top. Instead, the roof consists of two large steel elements that, according to Ford, can be stowed in the trunk in 29 seconds by electric motors and hydraulic cylinders at the push of a button. This reduces the load volume of the four-seater from 534 to 248 liters, says sales manager Jürgen Stackmann.

Basic model with 100 hp

The open Focus is initially offered with three engines. In the basic model, a 1.6-liter gasoline engine with 74 kW / 100 PS works. Ford sells a two-liter gasoline engine with 107 kW / 145 PS for a surcharge of just under 2000 euros, and for at least 27,250 euros there is a diesel with a two-liter displacement and standard particulate filter that produces 100 kW / 136 PS. This means that the open Focus reaches top speeds between 182 and 208 kilometers per hour (km / h) and consumes between 5.9 and 7.5 liters per 100 kilometers.

The standard equipment of all models includes an electronic stability program (ESP), four airbags and automatically deploying roll bars behind the headrests on the back seat. According to Ford, there are also heated sports seats and air conditioning ex works.
