The ADAC has calculated how far different car models can go on one tank of fuel. Result: The best can cover well over 1000 kilometers.

Renault Mégane 1.5 dCi and Citröen C4 HDi 110 FAP drivers rarely have to look for a gas station. The ADAC calculated a range of 1333 kilometers for the two models as diesel versions and with 60-liter tanks.

Diesel get the farthest

Unsurprisingly, the diesels, with their low fuel consumption, came out on top in the investigation of the auto club: Third place is the Peugeot 607HDi FAP 135 from the upper mid-range, which covers 1,311 kilometers with a tank volume of 80 liters. The small car Renault Clio 1.5 dCi and the best mid-range car, the VW Passat 1.9 TDI, each with 1,250 kilometers but different tank volumes, follow closely behind: Clio drivers fill up with 55 liters, Passat drivers with 70 liters.

The petrol engine that can cover the longest distance on one tank of fuel is the Honda Civic 1.3i-DSi Hybrid. With 50 liters of super, the lower mid-range car covers 1087 kilometers. Besides him, only one petrol engine can make the thousand-dollar hurdle: the Toyota Prius 1.5 Hybrid drives 1,047 kilometers with 45 liters in the tank. Both are vehicles with hybrid technology, i.e. a gasoline engine combined with an electric drive.

Incidentally, the diesels with the shortest range are the small cars Fiat Panda 1.3 JTD Multijet 16V 4x4 (566 kilometers, 30 liter tank volume) and the smart fortwo coupé pure. However, its tank only holds 22 liters, with which a driver can travel 579 kilometers.

When comparing petrol, the Fiat Panda 1,2 8V 4x4 - apart from a few exotic and sports cars - sees the petrol station most often. After 455 kilometers, 30 liters of Super are used up.
