The driving test is a big problem for many learner drivers. Saxony-Anhalt brings up the rear. Almost every second student there has to repeat the theoretical part.
According to current statistics from the Auto Club Europa (ACE), more than one in four people in Germany fail the test. In the theoretical part it is around 30 percent, in the practical exam around 25 percent miss the training goal.
Merit from repeat offenders
The east-west divide is striking. In the new federal states, significantly more learner drivers fail the test. Saxony-Anhalt brings up the rear with a failure rate of 40.4 percent. In the theoretical part, as many as 44 percent fail the exam. However, this cannot be due to the questions, as these are uniform in all federal states.
Rather, according to the car club, there is a need for action on the part of the driving schools. These should improve both the theoretical lessons and the instruction in the practical part. However, it could be that the driving schools have no interest at all in improving the situation, as they make good money from so-called "repeat offenders"
Hessen in front
Hessen has the best test items with a failure rate of 22 percent. Schleswig-Holstein and Lower Saxony each have 24.5 percent. In total, around 1.45 million people in Germany received a driving license last year. It was the first driver's license for 871,286 people, and 430,129 people added at least one class to their existing driver's license.
There is also the issue of driving licenses after withdrawal and the transfer of foreign driving licenses. Every third person who acquired a driver's license for the first time was not yet of legal age. (mid)
