Ex-Volvo boss Stefan Jacoby has a new job. The German will be responsible for international business with 100 markets at GM.
Former Volvo boss Stefan Jacoby is staying with the Opel parent company General Motors. The German manager, who once made a career at Volkswagen and was head of the USA there, will manage the international business of the US group. He will be responsible for more than 100 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East.
Akerson praises Jacoby
"Stefan is a great addition to an already strong team," said CEO Dan Akerson on Friday at the Detroit headquarters. He referred to Jacoby's previous successes "in markets around the world". Among other things, the 55-year-old had managed the North American business for VW from 2007. In 2010 he moved to Volvo as boss, but had to vacate this position in 2012 due to business setbacks and people were dissatisfied with their work. Hakan Samuelsson took over his post.
The previous head of the international division at GM, Tim Lee, will in future oversee the important China business. He will retain his second role as head of global production. Jacoby will start at General Motors on Monday. (dpa)
