BMW says goodbye to Austria with the X3. The new SUV, which will be available from November, will be manufactured in the USA with immediate effect.
The last BMW X3 has now rolled off the production line at the Austrian contract manufacturer Magna Steyr. The new generation of the SUV, which will go on sale on November 20, will be produced immediately in Spartanburg, USA, where the other two SUV BMW models, the X5 and X6, are also built. The US plant has a total capacity of 200,000 units per year.
5.6 liters consumption for the volume diesel
At the market launch in November, the X3 will initially be available in two engine variants. The top model is the BMW X3 xDrive 35i, which is powered by the well-known in-line six-cylinder with a displacement of three liters, turbocharging and an output of 225 kW / 306 hp.
The volume model is said to be the BMW X3 xDrive 20d, which is powered by a four-cylinder common rail diesel with 135 kW / 184 hp. Thanks to the automatic start-stop system and regenerative braking system, it consumes 5.6 liters of diesel per 100 kilometers and has a top speed of 210 km / h. All X3 models are said to have slimmed down by 20 to 25 kilograms compared to the old generation, but there is still no light rear drive variant. (mid)
