The feeling “born to be wild” will probably cost at least one million euros. The chopper from the film Easy Rider will be auctioned - the last of a total of four Harley-Davidson named “Captain America”.

Peter Fonda's chopper from the film "Easy Rider" is an icon of cinema and counterculture. Now the tuned Harley-Davidson motorcycle with the sonorous name "Captain America" is being auctioned. The eye-catching bike with the extra high handlebars and the stars-and-stripes-decorated tank is one of four identical motorcycles that were used during the filming.

Three machines stolen

The other three machines were stolen before they even opened in theaters in July 1969. The chopper now being offered went into the possession of actor Dan Haggerty, who had also looked after the four machines during the film. The motorcycle was later exhibited at the National Motorcycle Museum. A certificate from the museum and a letter from Haggerty and Fonda should confirm the authenticity. The auction house "Profiles in History", which specializes in Hollywood memorabilia, is expecting proceeds of the equivalent of almost one million euros.

At the auction scheduled for October 18th, other film treasures will also be sold. Among other things, the coat that Leonardo di Caprio wore during the "King-of-the-world" scene in Titanic, Sylvester Stallone's boxing gloves from Rocky III and nine dinosaur models from Jurassic Park. (SP-X)
