Citroen catches the air. At the IAA, the French are presenting the Cabriolet C5 Airscape with mini-hybrid - unfortunately only as a study.
Citroen lets the sun into the C5. The French will present the C5 Airscape study at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt am Main from September 13 to 23. In addition to the graceful appearance of the large convertible, the folding roof, partly made of glass, and the UrbanHybrid system, which could work in conjunction with a diesel engine, are particularly striking.
Well-formed body

In addition to the electric motor, a 2.7 liter six-cylinder diesel unit with a soot particle filter and 150 kW / 204 PS works. The torque of 440 Nm is already available at 1900 rpm. The six-speed automatic ensures additional driving comfort.
With its well-formed body, the study combines elegance and sportiness. The distinctive radiator grille, the elongated headlights and the two Citroen angles literally nestle in the elegant dark gray of the four-seater.
Glass roof as the highlight

The large glass surface that extends into the newly designed folding roof and the 19 inch rims provide the dynamic part, before the sweeping side line on the elegantly styled rear underlines the status of the upper class again.
A highlight between the front and the rear is certainly the roof, the glazed upper part of which allows the occupants to enjoy a light-flooded interior. The roof, which is made entirely of carbon fiber composite, has the advantage that it can be extended or retracted very easily without affecting the aesthetics of the concept car. With the shiny metallic textile cover of its roof, the C5 Airscape consciously alludes to the soft top of classic large convertibles.
No series production planned

The C5 Airscape also remains elegant in the interior. Dark brown leather predominates here. Quilted seams on the seat underline the high standard. The leather and chrome-trimmed gear knob also matches the high-class look of the equipment.
Unfortunately, like almost every study, the C5 Airscape has a catch. "It is not planned to go into series production," says Citroen press spokesman Thomas Albrecht of Autogazette. So you will have to be content with design and technical elements that will be built into the new models of the French in the future.
