Citroen is also introducing the generation change in its mid-range model. The new C5 has seven engine variants in the price list.

Citroen prepares the generation change in the middle class. After the French manufacturer set the course with a study of a large convertible at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt / Main in September, the new C5 is now at the start. In Germany, the model series will initially be launched as a sedan at the end of March or beginning of April, Citroen announced in Paris. A station wagon follows a month later.

Based on the C6

In terms of style, the C5 follows the specifications of the top model C6 and has large headlights at the front and a bonnet into which the trademark double angle is cut. The four-door measures 4.78 meters in length, the station wagon is five centimeters longer. Both variants have a wheelbase of 2.82 meters and a width of 1.86 meters.

Seven airbags

According to Citroen, the C5, which can be supplied with either steel or air suspension, is available with three petrol and four diesel engines, each with a six-cylinder at the top. The petrol engine range starts with a 1.8 liter with 92 kW / 125 PS and goes up to 155 kW / 211 PS. The diesel range covers a range from 81 kW / 110 PS to 150 kW / 204 PS. However, the company has not yet provided any information on mileage or fuel consumption.

According to Citroën, the standard equipment of the C5 includes seven airbags, the anti-skid ESP, a cruise control and limiter as well as a particle filter for the diesel. For a surcharge there are, among other things, two additional airbags for the rear, xenon headlights and the AFIL lane departure warning system. (dpa)
