Opel presented two world firsts at the Geneva Motor Show. In addition to the Tigra TwinTop, this also includes the small car concept TRIXX. It even has an inflatable back seat.

The Astra is not yet at the dealerships when Opel is presenting two new models. The Opel Tigra TwinTop and the small car concept TRIXX celebrated their world premieres at the Geneva Motor Show. With these two cars, the Rüsselsheim-based company is continuing the model offensive initiated under CEO Carl-Peter Forster.
Coupe with a large trunk
«The Tigra is a sporty fun car for young people. It plays an important role in our model offensive,”said Forster in Geneva. Thanks to an electro-hydraulic folding steel roof, the Tigra offers customers driving pleasure in both a coupe and a convertible. In contrast to the competition, the new Opel offers customers an exceptionally large trunk volume for such a car: it is 440 liters. If you then add the space that is available for stowing the luggage behind the seats in the interior, it is even 510 liters. Opel proudly announced that it was the best in its class.
As Forster said, the new car will have a 90 hp 1.4 liter engine with innovative Twinport gasoline-saving technology and a 1.8 liter engine with 125 hp. Both units already meet the strict Euro 4 standard. While the Tigra will be available from dealers from summer, the customer will have to wait a little longer for the TRIXX. When and if it will come is not yet clear. The small car concept offers space for up to three adults and one child.
And the Trixx shows smart ideas for a city car. Two pantograph doors that can be slid to the side, two of which are on the passenger side and one on the driver's side, make getting into the city car, even in tight parking spaces, child's play.
So that there is enough space in the car for bulky luggage, the passenger seat can be completely folded away, but not only that, the city car can even easily transport two bicycles. For this purpose, a carrier system extends from under the rear bumper. Objects with a weight of up to 30 kilograms can be stowed on this load tractor - provided that the TRIXX goes into series production. Should it come to that, customers also have to get used to an inflatable rear seat. Thanks to a compressor, it inflates itself and reaches levels of comfort.
