The new Lancer Evolution celebrates its premiere next weekend at the “Tuningworld Bodensee”. The old way of counting the athlete has been abolished.
Around four months after its European premiere at the Bologna Motor Show 2007, the new Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is presented to the German public for the first time. The new generation will celebrate its German premiere at the “Tuningworld Bodensee” from May 1st to 4th. After the Evos I to IX, the new Evolution no longer has a Roman number. "The new Evo is a completely new vehicle, we are starting from scratch, so to speak," said Mitsubishi press spokesman Helmut Bauer of the Autogazette.
Typical jet fighter front
The 217 kW / 295 hp sports car is equipped with the latest development stage of the electronically controlled all-wheel drive system and the newly developed 6-speed "SST" transmission with dual clutch (Sport Shift Transmission). In contrast to previous generations, the appearance has been adapted to the other Lancer model variants. The Evo also received the “Jetfighter” front grill.
The differences to the “normal” production models are more likely to be felt under the bonnet. The torque of 366 Nm helps the Evo to reach the 100 km / h mark in 6.3 seconds. With the well-known five-speed gearbox, the athlete takes 5.4 seconds.
Extensive standard equipment

The Lancer Evolution has nine airbags, automatic climate control, Recaro sports seats, bi-xenon headlights with automatic headlamp leveling, cornering lights and headlight cleaning system integrated in the front bumper, rain and light sensors and an aluminum rear wing.
The top MR equipment also includes a high performance package (Bilstein single-tube gas pressure damper, Eibach springs, BBS rims, two-piece Brembo brake discs at the front), leather-Alcantara equipment (Recaro sports seats at the front with heated seats), a 650 -Watt premium audio system from Rockford Fosgate, a hard drive-based navigation system with a 7-inch LCD monitor, a music database, a Bluetooth interface with a hands-free system (controls integrated in the steering wheel), automatic cruise control and the «keyless» operating system «Smart-Key» on board.
Available from summer
The Evolution with the five-speed gearbox starts at 45,950 euros. If you don't want to do without the dual clutch transmission, you have to put 2000 euros more on the table. The top version MR costs at least 53,850 euros. The top model of the Lancer series will be available from summer. (AG)
