Peugeot has aroused desires with its secrecy about the successor to the 307. The French automaker has now announced that the 308 sedan will start its career in Europe this autumn.

How important this series is for Peugeot is shown by a look at the sales figures for the 307: since 2001, more than three million models in the various body styles have been sold by the Golf competitor. The 308, which will be produced in the French locations of Sochaux and Mulhouse in autumn, will initially come onto the market as a three- and five-door sedan.

Sleek impression

The 308 makes an extremely sleek impression on the pictures that have now been published. When looking at it from the front, it can first be seen that the brand's face has changed slightly. The radiator grille, which was already large on the 307, has become a bit larger and is black.

In addition, the grille looks even sharper. The headlights protrude far into the fender and, in combination with the fog lights, appear extremely harmonious, maybe even a little aggressive. The rear also shines with a new look: here, too, there are large taillights and a slightly surrounding rear window. The 308 will be presented at the International Motor Show (IAA) in September in Frankfurt. Peugeot has not yet announced anything about prices and engines. (AG)
