The ADAC advocates postponing the introduction of E10 fueling planned for next year. The club therefore calls for an alignment with other EU states.
The ADAC has spoken out against the introduction of operation with petrol E10 in the coming year. According to the traffic club, 3.12 million cars are not suitable for the special fuel. This is what research by the club with the vehicle manufacturers revealed. Since no statements are yet available for around four million vehicles, it is to be feared that this number will continue to rise.
Up to 15 cents more expensive
The club therefore assumes that mobility will become significantly more expensive. The affected motorists and motorcyclists would then have to resort to the Super Plus, which is up to 15 cents more expensive, instead of being able to fill up with normal or super fuel. But all other motorists also have to dig deeper into their pockets, because biofuel will probably cost a little more than today's gasoline due to the higher production costs.
In view of the still unresolved problems, the introduction of the E10 fuel as early as 2009 is, according to the ADAC, an unreasonable expectation for the drivers, who are already plagued by constantly rising fuel prices. The ADAC therefore calls for the introduction to be postponed to 2012, as is also planned in other EU countries.
By then, all open questions about technical compatibility and the overall carbon footprint can be clarified. A postponement would also reduce the number of E10-unsuitable vehicles, because it is primarily the older model years that cannot cope with too much ethanol. (AG)
