After all, 3,000 applicants have already submitted their documents to the Federal Office of Economics and Export Control (BAFA). But it is still too early for notices. A few administrative "little things" are missing.
Drivers will have to wait until mid-March for the announced scrapping premium of 2,500 euros. The competent authority has already processed the first applications for the premiums for end-of-life vehicles. The notifications to the applicants have not yet been sent, said a spokesman for the Federal Office for Economics and Export Control (BAFA) on Tuesday in Eschborn near Frankfurt on request.
Don't decide until mid-March
The reason for the waiting time until mid-March is a reservation in the directive on the promotion of car sales. There it is stated that the funding may only be approved once the “investment and repayment fund” planned by the federal government has been set up. This is not yet the case. Interim notifications should not be sent for cost reasons.
For the environmental bonus, with the help of which old cars are to be taken out of circulation and replaced by new ones, 1.5 billion euros are available. It is not yet clear whether BAFA's administrative costs will also have to be met from this amount. If not, the money would be enough for 600,000 rewards.
Currently completeness checks
So far, around 3,000 applications have been received, which are first checked for completeness, said the spokesman. The registration certificate for the new car is required for the application. After the regulation was announced, the Federal Office registered great interest in the premiums. Only complete applications are processed strictly in the order in which they are received. (dpa)
