The price-performance ratio of the Nubira Station trolley is right. However, with the latest Daewoo model, the buyer has to accept some compromises.

Now the compact trio is complete: after the Nubira sedan and the Lacetti hatchback variant, Daewoo is sending the Nubira Station Wagon station wagon into the race. The latest model also attracts with a convincing price-performance ratio, but not least because of its attractive outfit.

The combination version of the Nubira looks like it is made of one piece. With its gently rising sideline and the clearly drawn rear, memories of the Ford Focus tournament come up. The almost 4.60 meter long Daewoo impresses with its generous amount of space. There is plenty of space at the front and back and numerous shelves.

The trunk is spacious but not huge. It has a size between 400 and 1410 liters, easy to load thanks to a large trunk lid and the low loading sill. In the interior there are comfortable seats, a clear dashboard and good workmanship.

Stronger engine to be recommended

Two old friends with 1.6 and 1.8 liter cubic capacity provide the drive. Anyone who is regularly out and about with their children should treat themselves to the stronger 1.8 liter variant. With 90 KW / 122 PS, the 1.4 ton front-wheel drive car is well on the way. However, you should keep your hands off the optional four-speed automatic from ZF. It takes away any dynamism and driving pleasure from the Nubira Station Wagon. The Daewoo Kombi manages 184 km / h and the 0 to 100 km / h sprint in just under 12 seconds, but it seems too sluggish in every speed range.

The chassis makes a balanced impression and convinces with good suspension comfort. Not up to date: The Euro 3 emissions standard and an average consumption of 9.1 liters per 100 kilometers. The switching version is more agile and consumes around 1.5 liters less.

Diesel only available in 2006

A diesel generator would be ideal in the Nubira Station Wagon. But you have to wait until 2006 before modern diesel engines are used. For example, the old two-liter DTI engine from the Opel Astra and Vectra could have been implanted, but the adjustments would have been too costly, explains Daewoo Germany Managing Director Günther Sommerlad.

The Nubira has to lure its customers with the low price (from 14,590 euros) and the complete standard equipment. For a price of 16,990 euros, the Nubira 1.8 Station Wagon CDX offers, among other things, 4 airbags, ABS, automatic air conditioning, fog lamps, rain sensor and CD sound system. ESP is not available.
