Mazda orders almost 38,000 vehicles back to the workshops. Cars with frequent short journeys can be particularly affected.
Mazda calls back 37,771 cars in Germany. The Mazda3, Mazda5 and the discontinued generation of the Mazda6, each with the 2.0-liter diesel engine, can experience an unintended, short-term performance boost while driving. The reason is a possible rise in the oil level above the permitted mark, which leads to an energy-rich oil-fuel mixture reaching the engine's combustion chambers. According to the manufacturer, the problem occurs primarily in vehicles that are used frequently for short journeys.
Around 20 minutes of working time
The recall applies to the Mazda3 from the production period December 26, 2006 to November 5, 2008, for the Mazda5 (before the facelift) from the period April 19, 2005 to September 3, 2007, for those between April 27, 2005 and the Mazda6 sedan built September 28, 2007 and for the Mazda6 station wagon from the production period April 26, 2005 to November 1, 2007. The owners will be contacted by the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA). The manufacturer puts the duration of the workshop visit during which the engine control unit is re-recorded at 15 minutes to 20 minutes. (mid)
