The slightly refreshed Honda Accord celebrates its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show. Among other things, a 180 hp diesel is new.
Honda will be launching the revised Accord in April. Since the Legend was discontinued last fall, the 4.73-meter long mid-range sedan and its Tourer station wagon version have been the largest vehicles in the German Honda range. They are available from 26,450 euros, the Tourer costs from 27,750 euros. The previous entry-level price with basic equipment was 24,950 euros.
Lower consumption
The freshening up includes subtle retouching on the front end, whereby new clear glass indicators, chrome on the radiator grille and more accentuated air inlets do not make the previous models look the same old = . What is not visible is the more effective noise insulation, which has come about through special foams on the bonnet and dashboard, changes to the underbody and a special rear window. Thanks to modified shock absorbers, the road holding has also improved.
Aerodynamic measures, tires with reduced rolling resistance and lower-friction wheel bearings and transmissions have reduced consumption. The internal engine of the 2.2-liter diesel with 110 kW / 150 PS has been revised. Above all, it no longer exceeds the 140 gram limit for CO2 emissions, which is important for fleet use. The values are now 5.3 liters per 100 kilometers, corresponding to 138 grams of CO2 per kilometer.
"Type S" new in the range

The "Type S" is new to the Accord range. He competes with a 132 kW / 180 PS 2.2-liter diesel, which accelerates the vehicle to 100 km / h in 8.6 seconds and allows a top speed of 220 km / h. The average consumption should be 5.6 liters of diesel, corresponding to 147 grams of CO2.
Dark gray partial leather seats, black headlining and metallic look applications create a noble look. Red illuminated instruments, a red illuminated footwell and red stitching on the handbrake lever, gear knob and steering wheel give the interior a special touch. Like the upper trim levels Lifestyle and Executive, the Type S is equipped with xenon headlights, high beam assistant and active cornering lights as standard. A six-speed gearbox is one of them anyway. The price of the Type S: 35,575 euros.
Security package for 2450 euros

Safety is a top priority for all Accord models. A so-called Advanced Safety Package is available for an extra charge of 2450 euros. It includes adaptive cruise control that uses millimeter-wave radar to keep the distance to the vehicle in front constant, warns of a possible collision and, in an emergency, even initiates emergency braking with 60 percent of full braking power. A lane departure warning system is also included. He works with the help of a camera and actively intervenes in the electric power steering. The driver's steering commands always have the upper hand.
