Audi celebrated a big anniversary. The five millionth A4 has rolled off the assembly line at the Ingolstadt plant since 1994.
Audi celebrated production of the five millionth Audi A4 at the main plant in Ingolstadt on Wednesday. The anniversary model, an Audi A4 2.0 TFSI quattro in Misano red, is “another important milestone in the history of Audi” for the car manufacturer from Ingolstadt, says Frank Dreves, Board Member for Production at Audi AG. Audi has been building the A4 model series at the Ingolstadt site since 1994 and, via the production hub, in Neckarsulm since 2007. A total of five model variants are produced at both locations.

According to General Works Council Chairman Peter Mosch, the popular model with its high number of units is responsible for maintaining jobs. "With their success, the entire A4 family is securing our two main plants and thus employment in the long term."
The classic, which costs at least 26,900 euros, was recently determined by the residual value calculator EurotaxSchwacke to have the highest value retention in the "middle class" category and was named "Wertmeister 2011" in December 2010. (AG)
