Due to possible problems with the driver's airbag and power windows, around 3,600 Opel Insignia units across Germany have to be returned to the workshop. The vehicles from model year 2011 are affected. With 3,500 units, the driver airbag module can come off the steering wheel after the airbag has unfolded as a result of an accident.
Possible malfunction with various window regulators
In a workshop visit of around 30 minutes, the relevant component is replaced, and the tested vehicles receive a green dot on the top of the brake fluid reservoir.
In 113 vehicles there is also the risk that the anti-trap protection function of the electric window lifters will malfunction. In addition to the middle class Insignia, a few Astra are also affected, according to an Opel spokesman. The component is checked in the workshop and replaced if necessary; this should take around 45 minutes in total. The affected owners will be informed by the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) about problems with the driver's airbag as well as those with the electric window regulators. (mid)
