Saab 9-4X With Powerful Petrol Engine

Saab presents the 9-4X at the Los Angeles Motor Show. The Swedes' crossover model will start with a powerful V6 petrol engine with 265 hp.

The new Saab 9-4X drives up with clear lines and no off-road accessories such as wheel arch covers or body protection elements. The Swedish all-wheel drive crossover will be presented to the public at this year's Los Angeles Auto Show (November 19-28).

As an entry-level model, the new mid-range crossover, which is a mixture of station wagon and SUV, is equipped with a 195 kW / 265 hp 3.0-liter V6 engine. The suction gasoline engine with direct injection has a maximum torque of 302 Nm and accelerates the 9-4X, which is supplied with an 18-inch wheel set, from zero to 100 km / h in nine seconds.

The top speed is specified as 210 km / h. The top model "Aero" is fast up to 230 km / h. With his V6 engine, which is doubly charged by turbo, the Swede sprints to 100 km / h in 8.3 seconds. The 2.8 liter petrol engine mobilizes 221 kW / 300 PS. From the outside, the stronger 9-4X "Aero" differs from the basic model with its 20-inch alloy wheels in turbine design, a black grille and aluminum decorative strips on the side. Saab has not yet provided any information on fuel consumption.

Both all-wheel drive models are equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission as standard. The four-wheel drive is the brand's well-known XWD all-wheel drive system with an electronic limited-slip differential.

Sufficient space in the rear

The new Saab 9-4X can accommodate up to five adults, with the front sports seats being electrically adjustable. Traditionally, the dashboard with its cockpit with classic round instruments and the center console is inclined towards the driver. The cargo volume in the luggage compartment is 483 liters.

This can be further expanded thanks to the 40:60 foldable rear bench. The market launch of the crossover for the first half of 2011 is under discussion in the USA. The start of Germany will probably be in autumn 2011, the Swedes did not want to comment on the prices yet. (mid)
