The new Mazda2 will celebrate its world premiere in Geneva at the beginning of March. Contrary to the general trend towards size, it is lighter and more compact than its predecessor - and uses less fuel.
Mazda will soon be sending its model number two onto the market with changed dimensions: the new Mazda2 has shrunk in length by four centimeters to 3.88 meters. The new width is 1.69 meters (plus 1.5 centimeters), the new one is 1695 centimeters high - 5.5 centimeters lower than its predecessor. According to the manufacturer, the car now offers more safety, more driving fun and a more modern design. Mazda has said goodbye to the slightly square shape of its predecessor. The new 2 Series is sportier and more dynamic with an unchanged wheelbase of 2.49 meters.
At the front, the designers gave the car almond-shaped headlights that frame the pentagonal radiator grille. A central air inlet and the fog lights underline the sporty design. The side line is characterized by a large window front, which is additionally emphasized by a blackened B-pillar and a narrow C-pillar. The taillights are now slightly angled. The trunk of the new one creates 250 liters, if the split rear seat is folded down, it takes up to 469 liters. In Mazda’s opinion, the new product is not a simple change of model, but rather “the first product of an advanced generation of Mazda automobiles”.

It is shifted by a manual five-speed gearbox. When the new Mazda2 is launched in Germany, there will be three newly developed gasoline engines: a 1.3 liter with 55 kW / 75 PS and 62 kW / 84 PS and a 1.5 liter with 76 kW / 103 PS. All three should consume significantly less: the small gasoline engine is content, according to the manufacturer, with an average of 5.4 liters per 100 kilometers. ?? This means that it is in a very good position in the current discussion about fuel consumption and CO2 emissions ??, emphasizes the manufacturer.
