The Dodge Viper SRT-10 ACR is trimmed for high performance right down to the wheel nuts. The poisonous 600 horsepower monster is said to be available for less than $ 100,000.
The factory tuners from Chrysler have put the Dodge Viper SRT-10 ACR (American Club Racer) on the wheels. The already extremely fast beast SRT-10 was subjected to a weight loss cure. But only in terms of weight, because in terms of performance, the Americans are still sending the Mega Viper into the race with 600 horsepower. It draws its concentrated power from an 8.4 liter V10 engine with variable valve timing. So that it can drill its teeth as deeply as possible into the asphalt, the Viper is equipped with adjustable front and rear spoilers as well as small carbon wings on the front bumper. The wing armada generates so much downforce that the Viper literally sticks to the runway.
As martial as the racing flounder looks - it is street legal. "This allows die-hard viper and racing enthusiasts to drive the car to the racetrack, accelerate it to top speed and then drive it back home," says Dodge. The other way around, it would also be bad in a country where a maximum of 120 km / h is allowed on the motorway.
Only the essentials

Through various measures, the weight of the Viper ACR has been reduced by 18 kilograms compared to the normal SRT-10. If the racing trim of the Viper is not spartan enough for you, you can order a «Hard Core Package». Then Dodge throws out the audio system, the soundproofing under the hood or the carpeting in the trunk, for example. That saves around 18 kilograms in weight.
The power is transmitted by a manual six-speed gearbox. A modified oil pump ensures the oil supply even with extreme lateral acceleration. So that the snake can be stopped in its attack if necessary, the Viper ACR has been given particularly grippy disc brakes. According to Dodge, the car comes to a stop after less than 30 meters from an emergency stop at 60 miles (around 96 km / h). The shock absorbers can be adjusted in terms of hardness and spring deflection in order to perfectly match the Viper to every race track.
"We injected an extra dose of racing DNA into the ultimate American sports car," said Dodge spokesman Mike Accavitti, delighted about the overall work. The Viper meanders across the road in five different shades: Viper Red, Viper Black, Viper Violet, Viper Bright Blue Metallic or Viper Very Orange. The street racer will be available in the second half of 2008 and initially only in the USA. The price has not yet been determined, but should be less than 100,000 euros. Given the dollar exchange rate, which is currently dying at its lowest level, the US floor would cost the equivalent of just under 68,000 euros. (Press-Inform)
