At the International Motor Show Seoul, Kia presents the SUV study KND-4. The three-door all-wheel drive shows what Kia's 4 × 4 models could look like in the future.

With the new SUV study, Kia has left the traditional separation between urban design and off-road look behind. The three-door, painted canal green, is supposed to be an all-wheel drive car that cuts a fine figure in any environment. The streamlined, rounded front is fitted with LED headlights, and the wheel arches on display house imposing 20-inch wheels with low-profile tires. With the striking shoulder and roof lines and the dynamic C-pillar, Kia has given the SUV study a sporty look. Short overhangs at the front and rear and the large ground clearance should ensure high off-road capability.

Futuristic high-tech interior

The interior of the KND-4 is futuristic: four individual seats, metal surfaces on the floor, on the dashboard and on the door panels as well as indirect lighting - which is reflected by the metal surfaces. According to the manufacturer, the latest IT technology is on board, which provides the driver with all the necessary information about the vehicle and its surroundings. The central console is dominated by an AMOLED display (Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode), a very thin screen with an extremely wide viewing angle and the highest contrast. The KND-4 offers both Bluetooth and Blu-Ray technology as well as an integrated hard disk for the audio system. It is controlled via multifunction buttons on the steering wheel.

The SUV study is powered by a 2.2-liter diesel engine with variable turbine geometry (VGT) that drives all four wheels. The latest generation of electronically controlled all-wheel drive from Kia is used: an ATT (Active Torque Transfer) system that automatically transfers the drive force to the wheels with the best traction on slippery surfaces. The study was developed in the ultra-modern Kia Namyang design center - hence the name KND-4. The compact SUV is exactly 4.47 meters long, 1.86 meters wide, 1.60 meters high and has a wheelbase of 2.63 meters.
