Citroen's studies are always worth more than just a look at auto shows. At the IAA, the French are once again showing a very innovative concept car.
Most people drive to get somewhere. Citroën designed the Tubik study for those for whom the journey is goal enough: this highly idiosyncratic mixture of futuristic MPV, campervan and camper houses all kinds of entertainment systems so that there is no boredom on the go. The French want to show the car at the IAA International Motor Show (September 15-25) in Frankfurt.
Variable seating concept
The highlight of the 4.80 meter long and 2.08 meter wide concept car with a striking streamlined body is, according to the manufacturer, the variable seating concept. The car has nine seats that can be redesigned in many ways. The Tubik becomes a luxury lounge, a sleeping car or a small truck. A large-screen television, the high-end audio system and a panorama window, which can hardly be seen from the outside and cannot be seen, serve to entertain the passengers.
The driver's seat is particularly eye-catching: the strongly curved bucket seat goes over the driver's head into the head-up display, then into the steering wheel and finally into the pedals. This ring-shaped pulpit is called "Zyclotron" by Citroën.
With hybrid drive
In contrast to the futuristic design of the Tubik, which is equipped with butterfly and wing doors, the drive is close to series production: Under the sheet metal is the hybrid4, called a double diesel and electric motor, which will be available in the DS5 from the end of the year. (dpa / tmn)
