Volvo refreshes its flagship. In addition to new design elements and a revised chassis, the S80 also has a new diesel engine.
Volvo is redesigning the S80. The sedan will have a modified design, a refreshed interior and new engines, announced Volvo Germany in Cologne. The “facelift” will be presented at the Geneva Motor Show from March 5th to 15th, and it should come to dealers this spring. The design changes include a new radiator grille with a larger brand emblem and new decorative elements on the air intakes. Inside there are leather seats with stitched seams, instruments in aluminum surround and new decorative elements. On the technology side, the innovations include a revised chassis that will be available in two versions in the future: as a comfort-oriented standard version and as a specially tuned sports version.
Diesel with twin turbo charging
In terms of engines, Volvo has a new 2.4-liter diesel with twin-turbo charging in its program for the revised S80. The five-cylinder has an output of 151 kW / 205 PS, consumes 6.2 liters, which corresponds to CO2 emissions of 164 g / km and meets the Euro 5 emissions standard. Alternatively, there is another diesel engine with a displacement of 2.4 liters, which has an output of 129 kW / 175 hp and consumes 5.9 liters (CO2 emissions: 155 g / km). Volvo has not yet given any information on the prices. (dpa / tmn)
