The big plus of the Daewoo Kalos small car is the extremely low price. The Koreans do not save on the equipment.

The Daewoo Kalos is by no means a faceless small car in the crowd. The outfit is brave and quite consistent. There are now really unsightly representatives. The design of the Korean comes from the Italian creative master Giugaro. The pretty face is striking. Unfortunately, the rear in particular is too colorless.
The Kalos is more attractive because of its price-performance ratio. The Korean with a GM family affiliation is already available for less than 10,000 euros. But there is equipment that is second to none: electric windows and mirrors, radio and central locking are standard, the SX even offers air conditioning. All four seats have airbags. ABS is also included.
Lots of space inside
Inside, the Kalos is surprisingly lush despite its compact dimensions. Even tall people do not suffer from claustrophobia. Even in the back, you can't just endure short distances. However, you have to make certain compromises when it comes to seats, dashboards and workmanship. It's quite cheap here. On the other hand, the numerous shelves in the interior are pleasing.
Loud engine
The Daewoo is powered by a four-cylinder 1.4 liter engine. Thanks to 16-valve technology, 69 KW / 94 PS are available. That's eleven hp more than the two-valve variant. The unit is not a quiet step, but it does turn the front-wheel drive into a lively guy. However, from 4000 rpm it gets gritty. The torque of 130 Nm at 3400 rpm is a class-standard value, as is Tempo 176. Incidentally, the Daewoo reaches its top speed in fourth gear. The fifth is to save and let roll alone. At a brisk pace, Kalos consumption levels off at around seven liters per 100 kilometers. However, the Euro 3 emission class is not up to date.
Hooked gear
The five-speed gearbox does its job a bit grumpy, is too clunky and the gear ratio is too long. Which is noticeable negatively when accelerating. In addition, the steering works too numb. The attenuation, on the other hand, shows light and shadow. It runs very smoothly on a normal road, but rumbles on rough bumps. In addition, the discount Daewoo sways noticeably when the load changes. However, the Kalos does not behave dangerous.
The top model Daewoo Kalos 1.4 SX 16v is available from 11,590 euros.
