The Japanese manufacturer unveils the new generation of Mazda6 at the Moscow Motor Show. The new generation adheres closely to the specifications of the Takeri study.

In the middle class, the Mazda6 is one of the most agile models. In the new generation, which is celebrating its premiere at the Moscow Motor Show (August 29th to September 9th), it finally shows it optically. The model for the four-door sedan is the Takeri study shown in Tokyo last year. The market launch in Germany is scheduled for 2013.

New drive for the new Mazda6

Compared to the very dynamic concept car, the series has actually changed remarkably little, as the first photos show. The previously rather harmless-friendly looking front has clearly gained in aggressiveness. The long bonnet, the dome-shaped roof and the small window areas reflect the coupé style, which is currently modern across all vehicle classes.

The technology under the sheet has also been renewed. The engines and transmissions from the new Skyactive take over the driveRange, including a 2.0-liter gasoline engine with around 121 kW / 165 hp and a 2.2-liter diesel with up to 132 kW / 180 hp. The old five-speed automatic is replaced by a version with contemporary six gears. Another new addition to the range is an automatic start-stop system in conjunction with a particularly efficient braking force recovery system that stores the energy in quickly chargeable capacitors instead of conventional batteries.

The manufacturer does not name prices yet, the predecessor is in the price list with the 1.8-liter basic gasoline engine for 23,000 euros. With the sedan presented in Russia and the soon-to-be expected station wagon, the program is not yet complete, because for the first time a crossover model is to be created on the Mazda6 platform.
