The Spanish car maker Seat will launch the Altea XL on the German market in November. The price of the station wagon will be just 800 euros above the conventional model.

Seat has announced the price for the Altea XL. The station wagon of the Spaniards, which will hit the German market in mid-November, will cost 17,990 euros in the basic configuration. The XL is just 800 euros above the "normal" model.

Almost 19 centimeters tall

The Altea XL has grown in length by 18.7 centimeters. More space, which is particularly beneficial for the payload. The trunk of the station wagon now has 532 instead of 409 liters compared to the normal Altea. The volume can be increased by another 100 liters thanks to the rear bench seat that can be moved by 14 centimeters. "With this capacity, the XL is an ideal vehicle for young families who also need space for large holiday luggage," said Seat Vice President Giuseppe Tartaglione at the world premiere of the Altea XL at the Paris Motor Show Autonews24 last week.

The model is offered with two petrol and three diesel engines: the petrol engines have a displacement of 1.6 and 2.0 liters and, according to the manufacturer, produce 75 kW / 102 PS or 110 kW / 150 PS. The three diesels come with 1.9 and 2.0 liters displacement to 77 kW / 105 PS, 103 kW / 140 PS or 125 kW / 170 PS. The fastest Altea XL reaches 211 kilometers per hour, and the most economical one consumes an average of 5.4 liters.

Seat expects sales of 2500 XL for the German market this year alone, as spokeswoman Melanie Stöckl said on Friday Autonews24. With a view to the distribution between Altea XL and Altea, those responsible at Seat Germany in Mörfelden-Walldorf assume that 60 percent of customers will opt for the station wagon in the future.
