Fiat makes the panda legs. In addition to a sports version, the small car from Italy also has the option of running on natural gas.
Fiat is expanding the Panda model range to include a sporty version and a version that runs on natural gas. As announced by the Italian car manufacturer in Frankfurt, the small car is now available from dealers at prices starting at 12,990 euros as a sporty Panda HP with a 75 kW / 100 PS 1.4 liter engine. The four-cylinder accelerates the 975 kilo two-door car to 100 km / h in 9.5 seconds. The top speed should be 185 kilometers per hour (km / h).
Gas for 300 kilometers
In addition to the more powerful engine, the Panda HP gets a more tightly tuned chassis, more powerful brakes and sporty equipment: the sport version can be recognized from the outside by a new bumper with a large air inlet, a spoiler, chrome-plated tailpipe and wide tires. Inside there is a leather steering wheel, sport seats and a «Sport» button - it is used to regulate the steering force and adjust the response of the accelerator pedal.
In addition, from the beginning of 2007 the Panda will also be available with a combined petrol and natural gas drive. In return, the 39 kW / 52 PS small car gets two additional gas tanks on the underbody - they should not affect the interior or the cargo volume. The additional tanks hold 72 liters and increase the range of the small car by 300 kilometers, according to Fiat. A price has not yet been named.
