Buell is back on the motorcycle market. The former daughter of Harley-Davidson is now being led by company founder Erik Buell on his own - with a potent athlete at the start.
Erik Buell has revived his motorcycle brand. Four years after Harley-Davidson discontinued the brand, the namesake presented the first model from EBR (Erik Buell Racing), which is now owned by itself, at the American International Motorcycle Exposition (AIMExpo) in Orlando.
EBR 1190RX weighs just 190 kilograms
The EBR 1190RX is a legitimate descendant of the racing-proven 1190RS Super Bike, which is built in limited numbers, as the manufacturer announced. The new Buell is extremely powerful with 185 PS and a torque of 138 Newton meters, but only weighs 190 kilograms, so that a decent propulsion can be expected.
21 traction control settings ensure confident driving in all road conditions. Racing-inspired handling properties as well as the completely new styling combined with scientifically based aerodynamics are intended to promote driving pleasure. A digital multifunctional instrument can be used to set performance parameters such as traction control and call up numerous functions such as mileage data, service intervals and system diagnostics. The EBR 1190RX should be satisfied with 5.9 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers.
European EWC organization under construction
The prices for the American market are $ 18,995, which corresponds to around 14,000 euros. However, the machine assembled in the EWC plant in East Troy, Wisconsin, the series production of which is scheduled to start in December, will probably be a bit more expensive in Germany, as prices are higher here than in the States.
In addition, Buell fans in Europe have to be patient, as the European import organization Erik Buell Racing LLC is only just being set up. Managing Director Edwin Belonje, who previously served as Managing Director Europe at the electric motorcycle manufacturer Zero Motorcycles Inc, is already very optimistic. "Establishing and expanding the famous Erik Buell Racing brand in Europe is a great challenge for me," said the Dutchman, "but I am convinced that EWC will achieve a strong market position in the near future."
