VW offers the Polo for the Indian market as a four-door notchback sedan. The Vento was specially adapted to the needs of the local market.
A four-door notchback sedan of the VW Polo is now rolling onto the Indian market. The four-door model with the name Vento is based on the German version of the Polo and has been specially adapted to the needs of the subcontinent: the wheelbase has been extended by 82 millimeters and the suspension has been reinforced. The safety equipment is sparse and includes ABS and a front airbag as well as an anti-theft system with interior monitoring. In an emergency, it sounds the alarm.
Two engines on offer
Either a gasoline or diesel engine, each with a 1.6 liter displacement and an output of 77 kW / 105 PS, provides propulsion. The vehicle is produced in Chakan, India, where up to 110,000 units can roll off the assembly line every year. Distribution takes place through the local dealers.
A country-specific version of the VW Polo small car is offered in several growth markets in Asia and Eastern Europe and is also produced locally. In addition to India, a country-specific notchback Polo is also available in Russia. (mid)
