The success is paying off: Volkswagen boss Martin Winterkorn received a salary of 15.9 million euros last year. VW employees can also look forward to a bonus.
The successful year 2014, with records in sales, turnover and operating profit, made the cash register for Volkswagen boss Martin Winterkorn. The CEO of the twelve-brand group with its almost 600,000 employees will receive around 15.9 million euros in salary for the financial year, according to the annual report presented on Thursday.
For 2013, the highest-paid Dax boss had received 15 million euros. The Executive Board remuneration consists of a fixed salary and short-term and long-term profit sharing. In 2011 Winterkorn even received around 17.5 million euros - but then the Supervisory Board reformed the performance-based bonus payments.
Employees also benefit
Winterkorn also receives additional payments for his position on the executive board at Porsche Holding. Most recently, they were just under 800,000 euros for 2013. In addition, Volkswagen has now set up a provision of almost 29 million euros for Winterkorn's pension claims.
VW's collective bargaining employees could look forward to the start of the annual press conference. The roughly 115,000 in-house tariff employees receive a gross bonus of EUR 5900. Although the bonus is smaller than in previous years, Volkswagen is again distributing 700 million euros to employees by adding 5,000 new employees. (AG / dpa)
