Porsche has big plans for the Cajun. The Cayenne's little brother, which will be available from 2013, should make up the bulk of the sports car manufacturer's total sales.
According to a magazine report, Porsche is aiming for sales of around 60,000 vehicles a year for its new, small SUV, the Cajun. According to as yet unconfirmed information, the “Baby Cayenne” is to be built in Leipzig. To this end, the location is to be expanded to include a press shop and a paint shop, reported “Manager Magazin” on Thursday, citing corporate circles. Porsche did not want to comment on this.
Based on the Audi Q5
The Cajun is slated to hit the market in 2013. The Stuttgart-based company intends to officially announce in March where the small off-road vehicle will be built. The vehicle is being developed based on the Audi Q5 model.
It is speculated that the sports car manufacturer will expand the workforce for production by around 500 jobs. Thanks to new vehicle projects, Porsche wants to create around 1,800 new jobs by 2018. A good 13,000 people currently work for the sports car manufacturer. (dpa)
