The automobile manufacturer BMW donated a new turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine to its X1 SUV. The turbo engine is within 6.1 seconds to 100 km / h with its 180 kW / 245 PS.

The Bavarians refresh their range of engines and present an economical two-liter, four-cylinder gasoline engine with turbocharging. The new generation of engines will be used for the first time in spring in the X1 xDrive28i. The new gasoline engine with four combustion chambers has almost as much power as the previous six-cylinder: 180 kW / 245 PS compared to 190 kW / 285 PS.

Almost eight liters consumption

The fact that the "little one" performs as much as a "big one" is due, among other things, to the turbocharging, gasoline direct injection and solenoid valve injectors. Despite the numerous horsepower, the two-liter unit is quite frugal. BMW itself indicates an average consumption of 7.9 liters, which corresponds to CO2 emissions of 183 grams. The previous six-cylinder with a similar performance approved 9.4 liters per 100 kilometers.

The performance of the new four-cylinder is very promising: 100 km / h is reached after 6.1 seconds, the end is only at 240 km / h. The new X1 xDrive28i is inherently linked to an all-wheel drive with an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch, which distributes the power between the front and rear axles as required. Also standard is an automatic start-stop system that ensures peace and economy when the vehicle is stationary, and a manual six-speed gearbox. If you value comfortable gear changes, you can also have an eight-speed automatic installed for small change. (mid)
