The ADAC wants to secure its association status through a fundamental structural reform. With a reform draft, the automobile club plans to separate its business and club activities.

Europe's largest car club, the ADAC, is facing a fundamental structural reform after the scandal over counterfeiting of the “Yellow Angel” car price and criticism of its economic activities. In principle, the car club wants to remain a member organization in the form of a club, said ADAC spokesman Christian Garrels on Saturday.

For more transparency and for the “necessary and sensible separation between club and business activities”, a corresponding draft reform will be presented to the extraordinary ADAC general meeting on December 6th. This should also secure the association status.

Plans of a working group are not commented on

Garrels did not want to confirm or comment on information from the news magazine "Der Spiegel" and from NDR Info, according to which the acting ADAC President August Markl favors a model that provides for a spin-off of the ADAC company holding company into a stock corporation. According to this information, the car club is to own only 74.9 percent of the shares instead of the previous 100 percent, and a minority shareholder of the AG with blocking minority should become a newly established ADAC foundation.
