Mercedes has subjected the C-Class to a model revision. The mid-size sedan is getting new and more efficient engines in addition to visual changes.
With more efficient engines, more available driver assistance systems and slight visual changes, the facelifted Mercedes-Benz C-Class will roll out to dealers in March 2011. Over 2,000 new parts compared to their predecessor are supposed to make the middle class fit for the competition with the BMW 3 Series and VW Passat.
Mercedes C-Class is becoming more dynamic
The new C-Class is a bit more dynamic and at the same time more distinctive. The redesigned headlights now extend deeper into the fenders, and the V-shaped air intake looks larger. The side air intakes are located deep in the bumper, allowing the vehicle to sit more comfortably on the road. The bonnet is now completely made of aluminum to reduce weight. There is little new at the rear. But: Every lighting device now has LED lights, previously this was reserved exclusively for turn signals.

In the interior, the designers focused on the instrument panel. It should now look more powerful, sportier and at the same time more valuable. The surfaces of the operating instruments are finely detailed, the instrument cluster now also has the central display, which shows the navigation system's route guidance, for example. The steering wheel is made of leather as standard.
More performance, less consumption
In the model update, however, particular attention was paid to the technology. The new generation of engines promises more power with less consumption. All rear-wheel drive cars now have a start-stop system as standard, and all petrol engines are now also direct-injection. In the case of the top six-cylinder petrol engine with 225 kW / 306 hp, this leads to a fuel consumption reduction of 31 percent to an average of 6.8 liters of Super per 100 kilometers.

The saver is the 125 kW / 220 PS 2.2-liter turbo diesel, which on average only needs 4.4 liters of diesel. There is also a choice of ten new driver assistance systems for the C-Class, which can be ordered from January. They range from the drowsiness detection system Attention Assist to the distance control system Distronic Plus. The Mercedes C-Class celebrates its official premiere at the Geneva Motor Show in early March, just before the market launch. (mid)
