The start of the new year has been successful. The car manufacturer Audi was able to achieve a worldwide sales increase of 16.3 percent in January and sold a total of almost 112,000 vehicles.
After the sales record in 20112, the Ingolstadt carmaker Audi got off to a brilliant start into the new year. In January, the VW subsidiary's deliveries worldwide rose by 16.3 percent to 111,750 vehicles, as the company announced in Ingolstadt on Wednesday.
China continues to grow
"Although the economic framework conditions remain tense in some European countries, we have had a very successful start to the year in all regions of the world," said Audi Board Member for Sales Luca de Meo. Growth was particularly strong again in China at 38.5 percent; 37,678 customers there opted for a model with the four rings.
In Germany, Audi delivered 14,611 vehicles, 11.8 percent more than in the same period of the previous year. In the USA, the Ingolstadt-based company was able to increase deliveries by 7.5 percent to 10,056 units in January. Last year, the VW subsidiary sold around 1.455 million cars around the world, an increase of 11.7 percent. The Chief Sales Officer expects Audi to remain on record course this year as well. The SUV models such as the Q3, Q5 and Q7 as well as the new A3 family are to contribute in particular. (AG)
