With the HHR, Chevrolet has added the first real US model to its range. In November, the retro station wagon will also roll out to dealers in Germany.

Chevrolet will start selling the HHR in Germany in a few weeks. The retro station wagon from the USA will probably come to German dealers in November and cost around 23,000 euros, said Chevrolet spokesman Uwe Rowold in Rüsselsheim.

Four-cylinder as a standard machine

The style of the car is based on the Chevrolet Suburban from the post-war era. The modern interpretation is 4.48 meters long, 1.60 meters high and offers space for 638 liters of luggage with a wheelbase of 2.63 meters. If the rear seat is folded down, the load volume increases to 1634 liters. The HHR is powered by a four-cylinder with a displacement of 2.4 liters and 125 kW / 170 PS.

The engine achieves a maximum torque of 224 Newton meters and enables a top speed of 189 km / h. With the standard five-speed gearbox, it consumes 7.8 liters per 100 kilometers, according to the manufacturer - this corresponds to CO2 emissions of around 185 grams per kilometer. If you order the optional automatic, you have to calculate with 8.6 liters and around 204 g / km.

In addition to four airbags, ESP and air conditioning, the standard equipment also includes cruise control, leather upholstery and a CD radio with MP3 connection.

Further US models announced

After Chevrolet has so far only sold cars from Korea in Europe, the HHR is the first American in the program of the former Daewoo organization. But it won't be the last: According to the company, the new edition of the US sports car Camaro will also find its way across the Atlantic in the course of the coming year. (dpa)
