The new VW Passat will be at dealerships on November 12th. The mid-range sedan costs at least 24,425 euros, the station wagon called Variant is 1000 euros more in the list. The company announced this at a presentation in Barcelona. This means that the new model is 650 euros cheaper than its predecessor. The new generation also differs from it in a refreshed design, more economical engines and a range of comfort and assistance systems.
VW Passat with ten engines on offer
The new Passat had already been presented at the Paris Motor Show in early October. The engine range now includes ten engines from 77 kW / 105 PS to 220 kW / 300 PS, which in the best case should consume 18 percent less than before.
This is made possible, among other things, by the standard use of a so-called recuperation system to recover the braking energy and an automatic start-stop system for all diesels. The most economical compression-ignition engine has a consumption of 4.2 and the most frugal gasoline engine has a consumption of 5.8 liters (CO2 emissions: 109 and 138 g / km). VW also offers the Passat as an “EcoFuel” version with natural gas conversion and as a “MultiFuel” for bio-ethanol use. (dpa / tmn)
