Klingler takes over sales

In future, Klingler will also be responsible for the sales division of the group. He will retain his current position as member of the Board of Management of the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand for sales, marketing and after sales.

Detlef Wittig (67), who is currently head of group sales as a general manager, will be responsible for managing international investment projects for the group.

Vehicle production at Karmann

The Supervisory Board also approved the acquisition of machines, systems and land from the Karmann holding company at the Osnabrück location. The plans also envisage the establishment of a new Volkswagen subsidiary for vehicle construction and the start of a new vehicle project within the next few weeks.

Volkswagen will restart vehicle production in Osnabrück in 2011. According to current plans, over 1,000 jobs will be created by 2014 for this purpose. Existing development contracts are currently being continued. In the short term, around 200 specialists will be needed for the start-up and project start in the coming year. (AG)
