The Daimler Group wants to sell 300,000 cars in China by 2015. In addition, production in the country will be increased significantly, said CEO Dieter Zetsche.
Daimler plans to sell 300,000 Mercedes-Benz vehicles in China in 2015. "In China we have an almost exploding development", said Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche on Tuesday evening at an event of the "Stuttgarter Zeitung". The country will become the world's largest car market. "Our task must be that the technology is essentially determined by us."
Daimler increases production
Zetsche confirmed that the group will increasingly produce in the Middle Kingdom. The Chinese did not accept that all cars were imported. Bosch boss Franz Fehrenbach said the German plants of the auto supplier are currently well utilized. He also pointed out that even more production will take place in China in the future, especially in the area of mid-range cars with their great growth potential.
Mercedes sales manager Joachim Schmidt had already said in an interview with Autogazette at the Paris Motor Show that production in China should be increased to a ratio of 50:50 in the medium term. Mercedes currently produces only 30 percent of the cars sold on the Chinese market locally. (AG / dpa)
