VW has to reprogram the engine control unit on the models with the 1.4 liter TSI engine. BMW has some catching up to do in the area of LED taillights.
VW has to improve the engine management of some of its gasoline engines. According to the "Auto Service Praxis online" online portal, the engine control unit must be reprogrammed on every vehicle with a 1.4 liter TSI engine with the engine code "CAV". In Germany alone, 71,000 vehicles could be affected. The reason for the action is a rough engine run and weaknesses in the draft.
New seals for LED taillights
BMW also has to "sit down" on some models. At BMW, the coupés and convertibles of the 1-series are provided with new seals on the LED taillights. Failures can occur here, as a manufacturer's spokesman has now confirmed. Since brake lights, reversing lights, turn signals and rear fog lights are not affected, they will be replaced during the next scheduled workshop visit.
The modification is free of charge for the customer. Around 25,000 vehicles are affected in Germany, around half of which have already been converted. (mid)
