Volvo is fine-tuning its model range in order to wrest a certain potential for savings from its engines. In future, economical models will have the “DRIVe” label on their lower body.
The Volvo models C30, S40 and V50 will be equipped with a fuel-saving diesel variant at the end of the year, which has a fuel consumption of 4.4 liters (Volvo C30) and 4.5 liters (Volvo S40 and Volvo V50) per 100 kilometers as well as CO2 Bring emission values of 115 or 118 grams per kilometer to the market. According to the manufacturer, the C30 and V50 with these values were among the cars with the lowest carbon dioxide emissions in their segments. The vehicles could be recognized by the “DRIVe” emblem.
Improved smooth running properties
Technically, the vehicles are based on the C30 Efficiency concept study, which the Swedish automobile manufacturer presented at the International Motor Show IAA 2007 in Frankfurt am Main. The CO2 reduction measures presented in this vehicle will be used in the Drive models in 2008. The interventions include a body lowered by one centimeter, wind deflectors, floor panels, tires with reduced rolling resistance or special rear spoilers. (AG)
