It gets crowded on the highways. The autumn holidays start at the weekend in ten federal states. A large number of traffic jams can therefore be expected on the trunk roads.
According to the ADAC traffic jam forecast, drivers will have to be prepared for a large number of traffic jams this coming weekend. The autumn holidays start in Berlin, Brandenburg, Bremen, Hamburg, Hesse, Lower Saxony, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland, Saxony-Anhalt and Schleswig-Holstein as well as in parts of the Netherlands. The busiest weekend of this autumn travel season is expected. In addition, the vacationers from North Rhine-Westphalia and Thuringia are on their way back from their vacation. The ADAC expects particularly full roads on the routes towards the Alps, in the low mountain ranges and on the coasts. It is likely to get particularly crowded on these trunk roads:
trunk roads to and from the North and Baltic Seas
A 1 Cologne - Bremen - Hamburg - Lübeck - Puttgarden
A 2 Dortmund - Hanover - Berlin
A1 / A 3 / A 4 Kölner Ring
A 3 Cologne - Frankfurt - Nuremberg - Passau
A 4 Kirchheimer Dreieck - Erfurt - Dresden
A 5 Hattenbacher Dreieck - Karlsruhe - Basel
A 7 Flensburg - Hamburg - Hanover - Würzburg - Füssen / Reutte
A 8 Karlsruhe - Stuttgart - Munich - Salzburg
A 9 Munich - Nuremberg - Berlin
A 24 Hamburg - Berlin
A 61 Mönchengladbach - Koblenz - Ludwigshafen
A 93 Kufstein - Inntaldreieck
A 95 / B 2 Munich - Garmisch-Partenkirchen
A 96 Munich - Lindau
A 99 Munich bypass
Der ADACassumes that longer traffic jams in the neighboring Alpine countries are rather unlikely, despite the heavy tourist traffic. However, in addition to the holiday traffic, numerous construction sites will ensure stop-and-go. Due to the border controls at the Austrian border, vacationers have to expect longer waiting times when re-entering Germany. If you want to know which routes are particularly full, have a look at the current traffic jam report of the Autogazette. (AG)
