Anyone who wants to know whether and how many points they have in the Flensburg traffic offender register can now do so without any problems. The Federal Motor Transport Authority has created the option on the Internet for this purpose.
Drivers can check the current status of their Flensburg points account at the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) free of charge at any time. For this purpose, a personally signed request with information such as date of birth, all first names and, if applicable, last name at birth as well as a copy of the passport or identity card are submitted. A sample request is available on the Internet at www.kba.de ("Punktsystem - Ihr Punkestand").
Reduction of points through seminars
Especially drivers who have already committed multiple traffic violations should find out about the current status of their points account in the central traffic register. Because traffic offenders can use advanced seminars to clear their score. From 18 points the driver's license is gone. If the score is between eight and 13, according to the Automobile Club Verkehr (ACV), the person concerned receives a warning that is subject to a fee and advises them to voluntarily attend an advanced seminar at an authorized driving school and thus reduce two points. If the traffic offender already attends the seminar with a score of less than eight points, four points can even be reduced. After completing an advanced seminar or with a score of 14, it is also possibleto participate voluntarily in a traffic psychological counseling and thereby reduce the account by two points.
Even without these measures, the points accumulated in the list of sinners do not remain for life: Administrative offenses other than alcohol and drug trips are deleted after two years, for example. The prerequisite for this, however, is that no further traffic violations are committed within this period. (mid)
