The latest developments at ADAC have left their mark. Despite a higher number of withdrawals, the traffic club also grew in January.

Despite the numerous allegations against the ADAC in recent weeks, the number of withdrawals has been limited. By January 31, 66,233 members had left the association. In the previous year there were 51,805 departures in January. The traffic club assumes that the almost 15,000 more exits are due to the latest developments.

ADAC members have been loyal to the company for over 20 years

Despite the accumulation of withdrawals, the largest traffic club in Germany continued to grow. 45,639 new members increased the number to 18,988,440 members. However, according to the ADAC, 55,000 terminations are still being processed for the current year. The average age of the club members is currently 49.1 years, who have remained loyal to the club for an average of 21.1 years. The proportion of women is 37 percent.

The scandal was caused by the manipulation in the choice of the "Gelber Engel" car pricepublic. The former head of communications Michael Ramstetter had embellished the numbers of the votes. In the end, around 3,500 members of just under 19 million voted the VW Golf the "favorite car of the Germans". Now almost five times as many have left the traffic club as a result. (AG)
