Gasoline and diesel prices climb as Christmas approaches. The ADAC does not consider the price increase to be justified.

The ADAC does not consider the recent rise in gasoline and diesel prices to be justified. In a price comparison at branded petrol stations in 20 German cities, the liter of premium gasoline cost an average of 1.49 euros in a good half of the cities examined, as the ADAC announced on Tuesday in Munich.

Relaxation not in sight

In seven municipalities, the petrol price scratched the 1.50 euro mark at 1.499 euros per liter, namely in Bamberg, Dessau, Flensburg, Jena, Regensburg, Rüsselsheim and Trier. Trier was also the city with the currently highest diesel price, namely 1.344 euros per liter. Relaxation is currently not in sight, said an ADAC spokesman.

At the weekend, the auto clubs had accused the mineral oil companies of excessive profit thinking because of annual high prices for fuel. Although the price of crude oil is currently high, it has not climbed further in the past few days, the ADAC said on Tuesday. The current dollar rate cannot be given as a reason either. (dpa)
