Toyota Verso S: Little Family Friend

Toyota enters the mini van segment. Despite its length of less than four meters, the Verso S becomes a small family van.

The new Toyota Verso S has written a lot of space in the specification sheet despite its small external dimensions. The mini-van, which will be introduced in the first quarter of next year, with its just 3.99 meters length, wants to offer enough space for the small family and still not become a problem when looking for a parking space. The competitor of the Kia Venga and the new Hyundai ix20 has a wheelbase of 2.55 meters and can hold up to 1388 liters of luggage.

A petrol and a diesel

In the Mini-Verso, weekly shopping is loaded into a trunk with a flat surface as standard. If a little more space is required, the trunk floor can be lowered by 95 millimeters with a single movement. The rear seat backrest, which can be divided in a 40:60 ratio, can also be folded down from the luggage compartment. The engine range includes a gasoline engine and a diesel engine, each with four cylinders. The 1.33-liter gasoline engine has an output of 73 kW / 99 PS and a maximum torque of 125 Nm at 4000 rpm. The consumption is 5.5 liters of super per 100 kilometers.

The diesel engine has an output of 66 kW / 90 PS and a maximum torque of 205 Nm at 1800 rpm. On the roller dynamometer, it can travel 100 kilometers on 4.3 liters of fuel. Both engines roll with a manual six-speed gearbox as standard. A seven-speed CVT transmission is available for the petrol engine at an additional cost, while the diesel engine can be ordered with an automated manual transmission.

Prices are not yet fixed

So that the small family is safe on the road in the Verso S, the Japanese have installed seven airbags and ESP anti-skid protection as standard. If you still have some money left over, you can invest in a panoramic glass roof or the new multimedia system with a 6.1-inch screen and touch-screen operation.

The little brother of the 4.44 meter long Verso has a lot to offer. It is not yet known how much money the customer has to offer in order to own the Verso S, which is currently being offered at the Paris Motor Show (until October 17th). For the "big one" at least 21,150 euros are due. (mid)
