Volkswagen With Sales Record

The Volkswagen Group was able to deliver well over two million vehicles in the first seven months of the year. The car manufacturer achieved growth of almost eight percent.

With 2.11 million vehicles delivered worldwide between January and July 2007, the Volkswagen brand set a sales record. The Wolfsburg-based car manufacturer achieved an increase of 7.9 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. In July alone, VW was able to sell 310,000 cars (up 10.5 percent).

Brazil with high growth

“We have never sold so many Volkswagens in such a period of time before. We are therefore going into the next few months with confidence,”says Sales and Marketing Director Michael Kern. As the company announced on Tuesday, Brazil recorded the highest sales growth of 30.6 percent (261,000 vehicles) of VW's ten largest individual markets worldwide in the first seven months of the year. This is followed by China, which is also the largest single market, with an increase of 25.4 percent (443,000 deliveries) and Argentina with an increase of 20.9 percent (60,000 deliveries). (AG)
